Welcome to VAFC!
I am Kihyeon, the head coach of our fencing school, bringing over two decades of professional athletic experience, including a decade as a member of the South Korean national team. My pride lies in contributing my expertise to the VAFC, where, through dedication and hard work, I have achieved numerous medals in both domestic and international modern pentathlon competitions. Concurrently, I pursued a doctoral degree, enhancing my knowledge and proficiency in the exercise field. With extensive coaching experience, I am committed to guiding you in refining your skills incrementally. I firmly believe that my background positions me to lead our VAFC fencers to success.

DONGHOON YOO
Coach
Greetings, I am Dong Hun Yoo, the Epee coach at VAFC. With a decade of experience as a professional modern pentathlon athlete, I have excelled in various domestic competitions. Additionally, I bring a wealth of coaching experience, having worked with athletes in the South Korean Navy Special Warfare Unit (SSU) for 2 years, collaborated with the Special Rescue Team in the South Korean Coast Guard, and served 7 years in the Special Forces, including 2 years as a fitness instructor. It is a true honor to be part of VAFC, and I look forward to sharing my expertise and collaborating with you all to enhance your fencing skills and overall physical abilities.
HYUNSUK LEE
Coach
Coach Hyunsuk Lee, a gold, silver, and bronze medalist in epee and foil from the Korea Championship, developed her exceptional fencing skills by winning many national competitions in Korea. During her high school years as a fencer at Daejeon Girls' High School, she won a gold medal in the National Athletic Competition and earned several other medals. As a leader, she guided her team to victory in the team event at the Korean National Senior Championship, secured second place in the Presidential Fencing Championship, and received the Achievement Award as a fencer on the professional Daejeon City Hall team.
Additionally, Coach Hyun gained coaching experience by training the fencing teams at Hoedeok Middle School and Daejeon Girls' High School in Korea.
From 2015 to 2022, she coached numerous students at other club in US, guiding many to win gold, silver, and bronze medals at both national and regional levels.
